ELECTION 2008: Using Terengganu as the perfect model for BN's Kelantan rule

Terengganu’s progress under the Barisan Nasional will be the perfect model for Kelantan, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today.

He urged voters in both states to look at the party’s track record in the past four years in Terengganu.

“Pas ruled Kelantan for 18 years but failed to reach the same level of development under BN rule in Terengganu since 2004,” he said at the launching of the InfoDesa Square and Information Technology Centre in Kampung Alur Limbat here. “The progress here and there is vastly different. The sky is the limit for BN to promote progress compared to Pas who is merely rhetorical in its promises.”

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, Marang Umno chief Datuk Abdul Rahman Bakar and party leaders as well as candidates.

Najib said Pas only played with slogans, but failed to improve the people’s livelihoods in Kelantan and when it ruled Terengganu for four years.
He agreed with Idris that Pas was only good for its orators, at collecting donations, putting up flags and assailing others.

“They can only be good at these, but they cannot help the people move forward,” he said. “Do you still remember when Pas ruled the state and did nothing? Islam wants strong followers who can build a formidable civilisation. God discourages attempts to break the bond of brotherhood as the Pas president had done when he refused to shake hands with his challenger.”

The BN’s Datuk Dr Ahmad Ramzi Zubir is challenging Hadi for the Marang parliamentary constituency.

The pact between Pas and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) was only aimed at winning seats, Najib said. “Based on the spirit I see, the party’s victory starts here in Marang by denying Pas seats and securing a big victory.”
